Ottawa, ON --- Tina Irwin of Stouffville, ON, has been named the Dressage Canada Red Scarf Equestrian Athlete of the Month for April.

Traveling to Florida to compete on the winter dressage circuit, Irwin, 28, earned top scores at The Grand Prix level with her long-time partner Amicelli (Amigo x Calypso III), a 13-year-old Holsteiner gelding owned by Ute Busse and Wendy Beresford.

In the Grand Prix Freestyle at the CDI-W Gold Coast Opener, held January 23–25, in Loxahatchee, FL, Irwin and Amicelli finished with a score of 65.400%.

The pair was invited to participate in the $130,000 Exquis World Dressage Masters, held January 29–31 at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center, in Wellington, FL, USA, where they competed amongst the world’s top dressage riders.

At the CDI3*Y/J Wellington Classic Dressage Spring Challenge, held February 6–8 in Wellington, FL, Irwin and Amicelli earned two fourth place finishes, scoring of 65.957% in the Grand Prix test and 68.950% in the Grand Prix Freestyle test.

The pair also competed in the Grand Prix and the Grand Prix Special at CDI-W/Y Palm Beach Dressage Derby, held February 27 to March 1, in Loxahatchee, FL.

“We had a really good winter season,” said Irwin, who with her husband, Jaimey, recently opened a new dressage facility in Stouffville, ON. “I was very honoured to compete at the Exquis World Dressage Masters, and now my focus is on achieving qualifying scores for the Canadian Dressage Team attending 2010 World Equestrian Games. We need more great sponsors like Red Scarf Equestrian to help promote our riders and our sport.”
