August 8, 2008
Lexington, KY --- Debbie Stephens has expanded her lead in the 2008 Hagyard Challege Series following a third and fifth place finish in Thursday’s $25,000 Hagyard Lexington Classic. Stephens finished third with Callaway 4, and fifth with All Star.
Margie Engle’s tenth place finish yesterday with Hidden Creek’s Pamina L, gave her just enough extra cash to take over sole possession of second place with a total of $8,000 in money won in the first four events.
Newcomer Tracey Weinberg, who scored her first major grand prix win yesterday in the Hagyard Lexington Classic with Cromwell, has moved into a third place tied with Danielle Torano with $7,500 in prize money won.
The Hagyard Challenge Series is a summer-long series of seven show jumping events at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington. Offering $215,000 in prize money, the series will award its leading rider with a $50,000 bonus after the final event, held at the Kentucky National Indoor Horse Show in September.
