County of Leduc, Alberta- He's back! And with even more knowledge and experience. Dave has spent another year learning osteopathy and developing an even greater understanding of what it is that bits do to horses and how we can better work with our horses to improve their performance and well-being. In his own words, "After building bits for a number of years," says Dave, "I realized the need to better understand all the principles of bitting, which include the anatomy of the horse, training techniques and bit mechanics. I am furthering my education in anatomy, which relates to the design of horse bits. With added knowledge, I can help educate customers to better understand how and why bits function." If you can't come for the weekend - come for Friday evening at Looma Hall. Doors open at 6 pm.

Mantracking - Fundraiser- 5 min. from African Lion Safari
Cambridge, Ontario- The event pits teams of 2 on foot against teams of 2 on horseback or with dogs. The challenge takes place in a 500 acre woodlot with well used trails, deer paths and thick bush. The Prey Teams on foot must cover approximately 10k. They are given the location of the first checkpoint and must reach it to get the location of the next checkpoint. There are 5 checkpoints in total. The team that reaches all checkpoints and returns to the start without being captured in the shortest time wins. The Prey must decide whether to risk the open trails for a fast time but possible capture or staying hidden in the bush while moving slower and possibly getting lost. In order to compete the Prey must fundraise minimum $300 per team. Additional fundraising can give the team advantages in the competition. By raising $500 the teams will get Mara’s notes and times from her trial run. Every additional $100 raised earns the GPS position of a checkpoint. There are 2 teams of Trackers on horseback and 1 Tracker Team with dogs in the woodlot throughout the competition. The trackers are given time slots varying according to the number of Prey Teams on the course. Their objective is to either capture or slow down the Prey Team and prevent them from winning. For every $100 the Tracker Team fundraise they will get the location of a checkpoint. By raising at least $500 to get the location of all the checkpoints they may anticipate the route the Prey will take. Limited spacing, contact Mara Engel, mara@nsd.on.ca to register
